Q: What form will this zine be in?

A: D!D!D! will be a glossy perfect-bound 6x9 inch physical zine, estimated to be around 50 pages. In our bulks, we will be selling the following merch: stickers, charms, and embroidered patches.

Q: Is this zine Safe For Work?

A: Yes.

Q: What kind of aesthetics are going to be allowed in the zine?

A: All of them. D!D!D! aims for variety in the looks it’ll be featuring. Runway, cyberpunk, lovecore, redesigns, thrift store chic — it’s all allowed. Artists are free to be as creative as they want, provided that they do not disrespect or appropriate other cultures for the sake of being “exotic” or “aesthetic” (ex: indigenous headdresses, dreads, religious imagery, etc.)

Q: If I get chosen to participate in the zine, would I be allowed to drop out if not too late into production?

A: Yes. In anticipation of unforeseen circumstances that would require artists to drop out, we are planning on appointing pitch-hitters, or backups, to fill up open slots. Pitch-hitters will receive information separate from rejection or acceptance emails.

Q: How much will artists be possibly paid?

A: Each artist will get the complete package freely shipped to them: a copy of the zine and all available merch. All remaining money will be accordingly and evenly distributed to all zine participants. If preorders account to 100 sales, artists of age are projected to be paid $40-50 each.

Hateful imagery and symbols-- for example, Nazi glorification.

Pitch-hitters are backup artists who will be contacted to fill in a missing spot.

Being a pitch-hitter doesn't necessarily mean that your art wasn't good enough! It could be that your character preferences were too popular, leaving behind no room for a backup assignment.

We look for your technical skills first, prioritizing color, composition, and anatomy.

Essentially, we’re looking for full body illustrations with creative concepts geared towards character design and fashion.

You may upload sketches/rougher art if you’d like, as long as you have other examples that show your technical breadth.

Danganronpa characters aren’t required in your portfolio, although it’s highly recommended so that we’re sure that artists will have a good sense of the character they’ll be drawing! But this will not affect how we judge your portfolio.

Backgrounds are recommended to get a sense of perspective/depth in your art.

Not only is your flexibility in design important, but also how you are willing to play with the idea of it. How do you let your characters interact with the environment, with each other? What is the story? Let us know.
